Coorg – A City of Waterfalls, Forests and Serene Surroundings

Know as the Scotland of India, Coorg, or Kodagu is the largest producer of coffee in India. Cauvery Nisargadhama

A 64-acre island at a distance of about 30 kilometres from Madikeri, this is a perfect spot for any nature enthusiast. This Cauvery River surrounds Nisargadhama that adds to the beauty of the lush green foliage. There are also cottages available if you would prefer to spend the night.

Dubare Elephant Camp

A great place to visit especially with the family, Dubare is an elephant training camp where you can also see these amazing animals being fed and bathed. The area is also a forest reserve with sloth bears, crocodiles and wild dogs. A great way to see the island is through a boat ride.

Bylakuppe

The second biggest Tibetan settlement in India, Bylakuppe offers visitors an insight into Buddhist practices. Showing off the architecture of their homeland, the Namdroling Monastery is a grand building that is definitely worth visiting. If you can, plan your visit during Losar or the Tibetan New Year to get an up-close view of Tibetan culture.

Sunset points

Being a hill station, Coorg has many wondrous spots where you can witness gorgeous sunsets or sunrises. Raja’s Seat is perhaps the most famous and popular place for sunsets. This tourist location offers more than just a view of the setting sun, there is a musical fountain and beautiful garden where you can see the surrounding hills and valleys. Mandal Patti view point is another picturesque setting for the sunset. You can trek to this part to make the most of this setting.
